A Day at MHC: Tasha Elizarde
“My favorite part of the day was walking outside and enjoying the beautiful campus scenery. There are so many birds both in the sky and on the ground (hey, Jorge!).”

Tuesday
9:20 am: Starting off the day with a new class. Smith College started yesterday, so even though I’ve been taking classes for a month now, today is my first day of Photography 2. So, I’m starting a new notebook to write about our semester syllabus.
11:30 am: We finished class early today, so I brought out the yoga mat to stretch. Usually, I like to exercise in the morning, and since I live far away from Kendall I like to either exercise in my dorm room or walk around outside my building, Creighton.

12:15 pm: Going to lunch. I usually run errands on my way, so I stopped by the post office and then the lake to catch the winter sun. |
2:00 pm: Before getting back to school work, I made a few earrings out of polymer clay. Since I got put into one of the singles this year, I have an extra desk I use to make the earrings. I sold a few designs and I’m currently working on making a few statement blue stone pieces and mini rainbow studs.
3:30 pm: Doing homework. Today, I’m researching Filipinx labor migration. Last week, I compiled resources describing the causes behind labor migration, so today I’m starting to read through the sources I’ve collected. Eventually, my research will become a larger paper on labor migration policies.
6:00 pm: Grabbing dinner at Blanch, then continuing homework. Working on internship applications and an essay.
10:30 pm: When I end the day, I try to do something restful like journaling, playing the ukulele, playing video games, etc. Today, I watched some TV using my projector.
Wednesday
9:00 am: Morning exercise time.

12:00 pm: Went for a walk and saw some birds flying around. |
12:30 pm: Had lunch and played some ukulele.
1:30 pm: Watching a film called “Awāra” for my Bollywood cinema class.
|
6:00 pm: Instead of going to Blanch, I cooked today. I made chicken adobo, a Filipino dish that consists of chicken marinated in soy sauce, vinegar and spices. Using the Golden Pear in our res hall, I made chicken adobo and rice. |
