Mendal Diana Polish is a filmmaker, sound artist, curator, and photographer. She has taught for Duke University’s Arts in the Moving Image Department, following several years of teaching Digital Storytelling at a prison re-entry center in Philadelphia. Mendal has facilitated citizen journalism classes for groups involved in political struggles in various cities including Philadelphia, New York and Durham. She recently curated an experimental video series titled Queer Rites of Passage, which included the work of 13 video artists. In 2014, she received the Franklin Humanities Human Rights Grant at Duke University for a long form experimental documentary she is currently working on called Letters to Joseph. She is a graduate of the Duke M.F.A. program for Experimental Documentary Arts.
